Myoclonic seizures: Topamax Keppra and Lamotrigine

Well my son is currently 14 months old and he has been on Topamax for a little while, after hitting the max amount of that (3-15mg tablets- 3times daily) the Dr. decidied on putting him on Keppra. I found that he was getting worse on Keppra, so they slowly started taking kepra out. He currently takes (1ml twice daily). They then decided to start him on Lamotrigine, he takes 2 chewable tablets of this daily. He still is experiencing seizures approx 1 every other day. Since starting Lamotrigine he has been acting different in regards to: staring off a lot, he is throwing himself around a lot.. all around just been different.

   I have a few questions:

Has anyone experience any of these problems with these combos of meds?

And also does anyone else think this is way too much medicine for a 24lbs child?

Any help would be great, we have only one pediatric nuerologist in my state and he is about 100 miles away.. He is supposibly going to be retiring as well and we will have to either go to Denver, Salt Lake, Seattle, or Spokane. Does anyone have a good experience with any doctors or bad experiences with any drs within these areas.

Has anyone herd of a surgery in denver by Dr. Lao Prasert (spelling?) It supposibly has a 3 out of 4 success rate?

Sorry for how long this is, I am a very confused mother with a child that is very delayed, and not many resorces where we live, any help or suggestions is very much so appreciated!!

My son is 4 yrs old, he had Infantile Spasms as a baby and they developed into Myoclonic jerks.  He has been on Topamax since 4 mos old...it controlled it pretty well until he turned 4 and he began to break through, they then added Keppra, which controlled nothing except his mood...it was not good.  We have stayed on Topamax, after Keppra we tried Depakote and experienced the same...weaned Dep and started Lamictal ( i believe its the same as Lamotrigine) and we are currently weaning it as it really worsened the myoclonic jerks.  We are increasing Topamax again just to get us through for a few months and then beginning Clobazam (from Canada). Maybe this will help some. I know its confusing!

Good Luck!!

I just have a question in regards to your childs developemnt. My son is 14 months old and he doesnt have the skills he should have. He rolls over, but doesnt sit up or crawl or walk, he doesnt try to grab at toys or anything. He pretty much just makes a growling noise? Did you have any of these problems?
