Hi all, I'm new. Been diagnosed with idiopathic generlalised epilepsy after having tonic-clonics...but...
I get stuck between sleep and wakefulness and feel "stormy" in my brain like I can't make it stop for a short while. Other times, I am awake and get mild muscle twitches (always in the same place, my right shoulder). I have only ever had tonic clonic seizure treatment by my neuro, but sometimes I become vacant (eg, when watching TV) and have no idea about the last 2 minutes. This last thing might just be me though.
Currently on low dose Keppra, not had a tonic-clonic for a while... but these symptoms are making me thing something is coming. Do I need to contact my Neurologist about this? Only met him once....and he's vile, practically rushed me out of the door when I had so many questions

any time a doctor rushes you out the door and/or doesnt take the time to answer you questions means it is time to find a new doctor. there are plenty of good ones out there but there are even more bad ones. i have gone thru firing some docs myself to find one that would stay in the room and listen instead of flash and dash as i always call it. ( hes there for a flash of a second and a quick dash out the door ) your best bet is to check with your insurance co for a epitologist in your area. that is a neurologist that has spent a additional 2 years in school studying epilepsy. if there isnt one available, just start going thru the neurologist available. if you have a teaching hospital in your town, go with a neuro from there first. what you are discribing does sound like some type of seizure ativity and needs to be addressed sooner rather than later so make a appt with a new dr. good luck in finding a great doc.
God Bless,
Banffgirl,
I have a electric personality, my brain is self charging!
They sound very much like seizures to me. They all seem very similar to mine. I'm glad you are sitting down watching tv while some of these happen. It was really bad when I was walking across the street and ended up realizing I just stood there with drivers looking at me.
Find another doctor! That's not right. It takes a while but you'll find one who is really sincere in helping you. I went to UCLA at one point so that a nuero (he was awesome) could find all the diff. types of seizures I was having. I stay with him for over an hour each time I saw him. It ended up my big seizures are controlled and now I have only complex partial seizures. Depending on where you live you can look into a university setting that has a nuero department. If anything they are very much into the research so they'll work with you to "study" you. I am also on Keppra. It's horrible for me. It makes me very depressed and anxious. Keep trying. I'll think about you. Good luck.
