Need better understanding

I need help understanding what is happening with my son.  He is 30 yrs old and was diagnosed with Eliplisy while he was in the service.  They feel that an experimental shot he was given is what triggered the onset.  This was 9 yrs ago.  They were hoping that is was just a temporary onset but is not.  He has had 3 grand mal seizures but countless silent seizures.

An example:

We had gone out to dinner.  He wasnt feeling to good so he ordered a salad to come before his sandwich.  He ate it hoping it would help him to feel better but he just kept feeling worse.  He felt sweaty and clamy.  He kept passing out in the booth.  We left right away to get him home.  He can not keep his balance when this happens. The confusion and unsteadiness last for a couple of hours.  He comes to feeling sore, has a headache and usually sleeps for 2 or 3 days.

To best describe it - it is like watching someone who has way too much to drink.

I don't know if this will help you understand a little more about what your son is going through or not but here is what I know.  I was diagnosed with Complex Partial Seizures just over a year ago in May.  I am 38 years old and to my knowledge I never had a seizure before.  Though some close friends to the family said I was always having them even as a kid.  Though we didn't know that this was the case.

I was fortunate because when I had a Full Grand Mal seizure, I was driving at the time.  How is that fortunate you may ask?  Well no one else was involved in my wreck at the time of the accident.  So I am thankful for that much.

Anyhow,  after numerous tests (Cat scan, MRI, EEG, ENG, etc) I found out that I have scarring on my right Temporal Lobe.  What has caused this God only knows.  There are so many factors that could have caused it.  It could have from concussions, illness, and the list goes on.  I have read where drug abuse has caused them but I am not well versed on that to be for sure.  Being that your son was in the Military there are a number of factors there as well.  Was he deployed in situations where something could have caused a concussion?

I would think that you could ask the Neurologist and see if they have any further insights into what may have caused it.  I know that once they know what is going on they can help to control them so that they don't affect him as much.

I'm having trouble with Simple Seizures right now. Namely, the kind where I can hear the words people are saying to me, but cannot understand the words. This is known as 'Psychic Seizures'... http://my.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/seizure_simplepartial They...
