Happy New Year! (with Resolutions)

Tue, 01/11/2005 - 09:14
Hi all!Looking at the stats on this site. I now see that there are over 1,600 people registered here. Quite a crowd isn't it?I'm notorious for not making New Year's resolutions; but this year I am doing so for the benefit of my friends and family as well as myself. This may be another annual futile gesture on my part; but I'm going to take a shot at it anyway. For what it's worth, I thought I'd share them with everyone, since they might do us all some good:1. I am going to deal with this epilepsy well and like a gentleman.2. I'm going to take my medicine on time.3. I'm going to pay more attention to the way I feel. I'm going to make myself safe when I need to: pull over and stop driving, lie down, tell someone, whatever makes sense.4. I'm going to show others that I am taking care of myself so they will worry less.5. If I have to stay home from work (I'm lucky, I can telecommute), I am going to do so and not throw a guilt trip on myself for it.6. I'm going to start taking my cell phone with me wherever I go and call for help when I need it after a seizure.7. I'm going to update my MedicAlert data on-line and keep it updated.8. I'm going to find the best way to stress less and relax more.9. I'm going to call my neuro and see him when things change.10. I'm going to make my at-home practices safer. Lower water temperature, more microwaving, etc.11. I'm going to volunteer to be an EFA H.O.P.E mentor. That's a long enough list. Maybe some of these resolutions will interest others here as well; but I think they all fall under safe practice and sound medical advice for most of us. I like to think of all of you as dear friends; and wish you blessings for a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year!gsness

Hello, I just wanted to say that I think your list is a great one!  I think I may look into some of those myself.  I currently have no Medic Alert information nor a bracelet and I am horrible with my meds.  Perhaps I will even join that Yoga class I've been looking into (great for stress).  Have a great New Year!!

Hi Tiffany!I'm glad you liked my list. You mentioned yogaÂ… that's really interesting. I've been reading some books on Tibetan Buddhism lately, and I'm thinking of taking some yoga up again myself. I took a few classes in it right after high school (many, many, MANY years ago it seems), and it had crossed my mind too!Blessings to you and yours for a great new year!gsness
